Nestled in the heart of Kansai, Arima Onsen, reputed as Japan's oldest hot spring, is known as one of Japan's three famous hot springs. Throughout the year, guests can enjoy views of the seasonal mountain ranges and experience the fragrant breezes of nature. In the first-floor lobby of Arima Onsen "Mikyosō Hanamusubi," a custom Akisminster carpet has been installed. The design process began with the request to create a single-pattern design that conveys a relaxed flow throughout the hall. Inspired by the bird's-eye view of the Heian period paintings, the patterns depicting river flows and water surfaces scattered throughout the hall evoke the essence of Arima Onsen. Additionally, as the design was based on images of women from the Heian period, the color scheme was planned to evoke a sense of "Heian," considering the central pillar of the lobby.
