As part of the redevelopment of the west exit of Kawagoe Station, the Nishijin Tsumugi Brocade Curtain was adopted in the large hall of Westa Kawagoe. In the design competition, we gathered concepts and motifs based on the request for a curtain that would be worthy of a facility that serves as a cultural and artistic hub for Kawagoe, and that would become a source of pride for the citizens. The title of the curtain is "Harmony -The Sound of Time-," abstractly depicting the warm connections of people that have continued since ancient times in Kawagoe, intertwined with the resonant sound of the time bell that echoes from the past to the present. The overlapping circles represent the infinite expansion of the circles of interaction among people, as if playing a harmonious sound. The silver line in the center symbolizes the present, while the gold background represents the bells of the Edo period, rhythmically expressing the sound that informs the passage of time by varying the number of strikes according to the hour. We hope this will be cherished for a long time as a symbol of "Kawagoe, a town where time connects people," which has developed while inheriting history, tradition, and culture.
