Chubu Centrair International Airport, affectionately known as Centrair, serves as the international gateway to the Chubu region. The airport features the custom horizontal recycling carpet tile "ECOS®" in some of its boarding gates. Utilizing SUMINOE GROUP's unique "ECOS® backing," the carpet achieves a top-tier recycled material ratio of 62% and a CO₂ reduction rate of 15% compared to our conventional products (based on LCA). Given that airports are high-traffic areas for people and baggage, durability is of utmost importance. Therefore, the pile material is made from solution-dyed nylon yarn, significantly increasing the density of the pile yarn, which enhances its resistance to flattening and ensures it can withstand long-term use.
From a design perspective, the surface of the pile features chip shear processing, creating a high-and-low design that offers a solid texture without any steps, resulting in an upscale finish. These characteristics make the carpet tile a combination of "environmental friendliness," "durability," and "aesthetic appeal," aligning with the environmental policies of the Chubu Centrair International Airport Group, which emphasize "reduction of environmental impact" and "energy and resource conservation." Moving forward, there are plans for the entire area to be transformed into horizontal recycling carpet tiles "ECOS®" according to the annual plan.
