Takehara Town, located in the central part of the Chita Peninsula on the Tokai coast, is a nature-rich town with a population of 43,000. Among the Chita Peninsula, known for its strong food industry, Takehara Town faces Kinuura Port, making it a hub for industries, including a thermal power plant, supporting the economy of the Tokai region. The Takehara Town Central Community Center, which opened in 1976 and is situated in the town's center, has recently decided to replace its curtain along with renovations due to the aging of its stage equipment. They adopted the "Suminoe Art Stage Curtain," known for its excellent cost performance, lightweight nature, and design appeal. The current JR Taketoyo Line, which opened in 1886 as the first railway in Aichi Prefecture, has supported the development of Takehara Town. Additionally, the town is home to a turntable that is said to be the only one remaining in Japan, which has been designated as a registered tangible cultural property. Therefore, the design of the curtain was developed with a theme that conveys the culture of the railway to future generations and reflects the future development of Takehara Town. The ten rings of light are inspired by the wheels of a train, representing the nine stations on the current Taketoyo Line and one station that connects to the Tōkaidō Main Line. With hopes for the continued development of the historic Taketoyo Line, a brightly colored and well-structured curtain has been delivered.
