The Kyoto State Guest House is a national guest facility opened in April 2005 with the aim of warmly welcoming guests from overseas and helping them deepen their understanding and friendship with Japan in Kyoto, a city that symbolizes Japanese history and culture. In order to harmonize with the historical landscape and the surrounding natural environment, the building has an irimoya roof, a traditional Japanese residence, and a sukiya style exterior, creating a dignified Japanese-style appearance. The buildings and furnishings utilize the skills of many of Japan's most representative traditional craftsmen, including Sukiya carpentry, plastering, garden design, kirikane, Nishijin weaving, makie, and lacquer. A custom-made hooked carpet (Tango Dantsu) manufactured by TANGO TEXTILE Co., Ltd. of the SUMINOE GROUP is featured in the Fuji-no-Ma of the Kyoto State Guest House. The 30cm square has over 6,000 high-quality hand-woven grains and a delicate design reminiscent of a beautiful wisteria flower pattern, which is an example of how the Tango dantsu craftsmanship was utilized in the prestigious Kyoto State Guest House.
