Lake Toya is a volcanic lake located within the Toya Caldera, approximately 60 km southwest of Sapporo, characterized by its nearly circular shape measuring about 11 km from east to west and 9 km from north to south. Its name derives from the Ainu word "toya" (lake, shore), and the surrounding area is known for its hot springs, designated as part of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, one of Hokkaido's premier hot spring regions. As a new annex to the "Sun Palace Resort & Spa" located on the shores of Lake Toya, "The Lakesuite Konosumika" was built to provide a luxurious yet comforting hotel experience that embodies the "colors of the seasons." This hotel, designed as a higher-end "adult resort," opened on August 1, 2019.
For the first-floor restaurant, front lobby, elevator hall, shared corridors, and public bath, a total of seven custom Axminster carpet patterns were adopted. In addition, each of the 80 guest rooms features luxurious Mode S drape curtains with a glossy ivory fabric and chic lining, as well as delicate and soft Mode S sheer curtains. This setup beautifully aligns with the hotel’s concept of offering a luxurious and high-end atmosphere suitable for an “adult resort.”
