Kan'onji City, named after the Shingon Buddhism temple Kan'onji, is located in the southwestern part of Kagawa Prefecture. To the west, it borders the Seto Inland Sea, and to the south, it is close to Tokushima and Ehime Prefectures, with Kochi Prefecture also nearby, placing it near the center of Shikoku. Due to the area's mild climate and fewer natural disasters like typhoons, it is known for producing lettuce, onions, pears, and cotton. The area is also famous for the "Kan'ei Tsuho" sand coin artwork, a popular tourist attraction.
As part of the gymnasium renovation project for Kan'onji City Toyohama Elementary School, Suminoe art stage curtains and blackout curtains were chosen. The art stage curtain, designed by the school principal, features representations of pears and cotton, two local specialties of Kan'onji. The six pears symbolize the six school years, representing the growth of the students.
