Tsuruoka City, located in the southern part of the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, flourished as a castle town of the Shonai clan during the Edo period. Tsuruoka is one of the leading agricultural production areas in the Tohoku region, and is also a scenic tourist destination. Tokyo Daiichi Hotel Tsuruoka, located in the center of the area, is conveniently located next to the bus terminal and is one of the largest hotels in the Shonai region. The hotel reopened in July 2017 following earthquake-proofing and interior renovations, and custom-made carpets were used on the floors of the waiting room, guest rooms, banquet hall, hallways, and elevator hall. Each restaurant has a different design and is a relaxing space, so please stop by when you are in the Shonai region.
